for some reason, natalie connects me to who i am. so we were talking politics. something like this.
in 2003, the US would not appropriate funds for Uganda’s AIDS relief efforts until Uganda agreed to stop promoting condoms. Uganda (like many other African nations) agreed, and since then, their HIV rates have gone up
dr. dobson, pat robertson, gw bush and crew are once again taking advantage of having the upper hand and are (more obviously than ever) exchanging humanity for morality.
and here at home… infection rates continue to rise- our queer youth being marginalized by these abstinence-only policies going hand-in-hand with the right’s opposition to queer marriage.
our infections will slowly build up to become the billboards for abstinence-only education.
“When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said ‘Let us pray.’ We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the Bible and they had the land.” -Desmond Tutu
