well, we have a sense of humor.

so funny story we got stuck behind route clearance, they find ied’s, well they go really slow and we decide to pass them, well we all say it would be ironic if we get blown up, well 10 min down the road we hear them say they found an efp, good thing it was remote detonation by a cell phone and our warlock jammed the signals otherwise we would have been swiss cheese, hahaha
(my brother’s latest wall-posting on facebook)
the shocker
November 2, 2007 on 6:48 pm | In war | No Comments“2 in the pink, 1 in the stink”
it’s a hand gesture familiar to my generation
and now it is familiar to iraqi children.
apparently, the soldiers use this sign when they see friendly forces passing by
and now the kids have picked it up as a greeting.
fascinating.

October 19, 2007 on 4:34 pm | In queer, politico, war, love | No Commentsmy co-worker is going to PA this weekend
and i mentioned that i’m going this winter if my brother comes home from iraq
it slipped out of my mouth
if. if.
apparently, my faith is gone
expecting nothing
i live frugally on surprise
as alice walker once instructed me to do.
but i worry that he feels this
over there, as he tires from walking around
in 110 degree heat, with pounds of metal strapped to him
my lack of faith
(not hope, but faith)
i’m focusing and focusing
bring him home
but prayer is for people who are afraid, lazy, crazy to do
so i scream at every monger
who dares to defend the war in my presence
i wind myself into a ball of fire
powerful, and alive
until i break.
praying during weaker moments.
my nature
is to live on surprise
iran
September 29, 2007 on 7:23 pm | In politico, war | No Commentsso, i’m freaked out just like anyone else
but anytime someone is a called a demon on the front page of the post,
i’m hesitant to jump on board with the conservative media-mob.
iranian prez ahmadenijad has proven to be against many of the beliefs that we consider basic human rights,
but is this being blown up so that we can have the war we’ve been wanting with iran?
is it possible to leave this one up to the UN
and not charge on by blowing up another middle eastern country?
next
September 29, 2007 on 5:00 am | In war | No Commentsmom crying on the phone
chatting with jordan online
said his buddy was blown up today
roadside bomb
had to clear the site
find his friend dead
another family back home destroyed
and so mom’s crying
all i can feel is anger
at this fucking mess of an administration
my bro’s in danger
and i’m so full of rage that there’s no room for fear
only when things are quiet
then i can feel the fright
like when i’m brushing my teeth in the morning
tears flowing, first thing of the day.
turn up the itunes
get on with my day.
this is how we prevent the revolution.
turn on the tv, turn off your heart.
this is why i put my television on the street 3 years ago.
